Welcome!

The Coalition works to bring accessible, affordable, comprehensive and high quality health care to everyone in Maryland. This is no small task, but we know that women, working together, can make Maryland a national leader in making health care reform a reality.

As an alliance of women and women's organizations throughout the state, the Coalition has set the following goals:

  • Put forth a list of Principles for health care reform
  • Promote legislation that takes Maryland closer to comprehensive health care
  • Mobilize women to advocate for health care reform
  • Provide tools for grassroots and community-based action
  • Provide information on health care reform issues

To achieve these we will actively work with our partners to bring comprehensive health care to the state based upon ten basic Principles. Learn more about us, our Principles, our Vision, and Agenda on our website.

Health Care For All
The Coalition supports these Maryland reform efforts:

Health Care For All! Plan

Healthy MD Initiative
This legislation fact sheet will provide 50,000 Marylanders with health coverage while reducing the health costs of smoking; a response to misleading arguments on the issue; and a memo on voter support for the increase.
Our website has several fact sheets, articles and news stories that will help you understand the current status of health care both in Maryland and the nation. More info

The Kaiser Family Foundation is a wealth of information about health care in the states and nation. Check out:
  • a fact sheet describing with the major sources of health insurance coverage for women ages 18-64, including employer-sponsored insurance and Medicaid, 2006
  • a fact sheet with data on women 18-64 by state 2003-04
  • a fact sheet with an overview of studies on coverage of the uninsured
  • a fact sheet with characteristics and causes of the uninsured population.
