They need to know that: * You believe that every resident in Maryland should have access to health care, and * that raising taxes on tobacco and alcohol is a responsible way to provide health care funding. * The proposed tobacco tax (SB2 and HB2) and alcohol tax (HB13) will provide almost $300 million in the first year. * These are taxes paid by those who choose to use these products. * The decline in smoking and alcohol-use will have long-term health benefits for individuals and, at the same time, will reduce health costs. It is particularly important that the members of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee hear from you.
